Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has cited corruption and a lack of effective leadership as the two main issues impeding Nigeria’s progress but has pledged to do so if elected.

At a town hall meeting with the business community on Thursday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, Obi revealed this.

He also promised to fight corruption in all its forms.

The LP leader traveled to important towns in the state ahead of the gathering to court voters. They consist of the Ogboshishi Timber Market, the Relief Food Market, and the Alaba Spare Parts Market.

The traders, who had gathered in large numbers to greet him, were given assurances of economic stability.

Several leaders of the LP who traveled with the former governor of Anambra State expressed confidence that, given the degree of support Obi is receiving across the nation, he will triumph in this month’s presidential election.

Obi, who has a sizable youth following, is competing for Nigeria’s top office with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Political parties and their candidates are traveling the nation courting voters and outlining reasons why they should cast a ballot with less than ten days until the presidential and National Assembly elections.
