Elections in 2023: The Sokoto PDP rejects the outcome of the presidential race
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP leadership in Sokoto has disputed the outcome of the presidential election that was held throughout the state, claiming that it was marred by unheard-of violence.
Aliyu Goronyo, the party’s chairman in Sokoto, explained the party’s stance during a press conference there.
According to him, the PDP in Sokoto state cannot accept the election results after more than 370 000 qualified voters were prevented from doing their civic duty in over 470 polling places by thugs who were paid to obstruct the voting process.
The PDP chairman claimed that the security authorities in Nigeria failed to provide proper security and, in some cases, collaborated with the violent offenders to deprive the state’s citizens the right to pick the candidate of their choice.
