In Brighton’s FA Cup victory, Erik ten Hag prevented a Man Utd star from converting a particular penalty.

On Sunday night, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag led his team to an FA Cup semifinal victory over Brighton.
In his team’s FA Cup victory over Brighton on Sunday, Manchester United star Wout Weghorst revealed Erik ten Hag prevented him from converting an earlier penalty. After a tense shootout at Wembley, the Red Devils secured their spot in the competition’s final. And after initially appearing unlikely to accomplish a remarkable cup double, they are now just one victory away from doing so.
At Wembley, Manchester United needed to defeat Brighton on penalties.

It was a significant victory for United, one that puts them in the final against bitter rivals Manchester City.

After the game, Weghorst admitted to wanting to take a penalty earlier. The Netherlands international ultimately converted for his team’s sixth goal.

“I wanted to take one, I wanted to take one of the first five,” the forward said.

Victor Lindelof, a Sweden international, scored the winning goal for the Red Devils after Solly March missed his penalty.
