In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, Skales disclosed that he experienced constant pressure as a result of being overshadowed by Banky W and Wizkid, two of the biggest artists at the time.
Skales uttered, “People were comparing me to N200, Skales declared, so I’ll go on Twitter. Of course, Banky W and Wizkid, two of the biggest artists at the time, cast a shadow over me.
Skales revealed that because he wasn’t doing well at the time, trolls on Twitter even compared him to N200.
“Occasionally, after releasing a song, I’ll visit YouTube or other random websites and read the first five insulting comments. Simply put, I won’t want to read the comments once more.
And I’ll just feel bad not knowing that there are people who consider what you just did to be the most amazing thing they have ever heard, he continued. He told Chude the story.
He talked about how challenging it was to handle the derogatory remarks and taunts he frequently encountered online, particularly when he released new music.
Skales persisted and kept honing his craft in spite of this, eventually succeeding as a musician in his own right.
