Declan Rice’s transfer from West Ham to Arsenal has been officially announced.
After his departure from the Hammers was made official earlier on Saturday, the England international has now signed a long-term contract with North London.
“We’re really happy that Declan is joining us,” manager Mikel Arteta stated. He is a footballer of extraordinary talent who has been representing England and the Premier League at a high level for a number of seasons.
Declan is an extraordinary player who has the potential to be very successful at this club, and he is bringing undeniable quality to the team.
Declan, who is only 24 years old, has extensive Premier League experience. He has led a highly talented West Ham club, and as we have all seen, he recently won a European championship.
We are quite happy that he is joining us because of the responsibilities and position he has assumed.
In addition to Kai Havertz’s transfer from Chelsea last month and Jurrien Timber’s arrival from Ajax on Friday, Rice’s signing significantly strengthens Arteta’s team.
Following Arsenal’s second-place finish from the previous season, the 24-year-old will anticipate participating in Champions League football for the first time in his career.
“Mikel Arteta is a huge part of why I’ve come here,” Rice added.
“I’m so thrilled,” the speaker said. You may observe his process and have a true understanding of it from the Amazon documentary. He is an elite coach.
Rice will don the same jersey number at his new club as he did at West Ham, which is No. 41.
After leading his hometown team to victory in the Europa Conference League last month, Rice leaves the Hammers on a positive note.
“I am sorry to see Declan leave us, but I believe that everyone at West Ham United should be very proud of the part we have played in his journey,” co-chairman David Sullivan stated when announcing Rice’s departure.
“I want our supporters to know that we did not want to sell Declan,” I said.
“In order to secure his future, we made a number of upgraded, long-term contract offers because we wanted to build our team around him.
“Acting in the best interests of West Ham United, the club believed it would not be acceptable to stand in Declan’s way after he made it plain that he desired to move on and seek a new challenge.
The massive cash will now be used by David Moyes’ Irons to replace Rice, with Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse reportedly interested in moving to the London Stadium.
