22,282 People Are Made Available By INEC For The Governor's Race In Bauchi State.

The governorship and state assembly elections in Bauchi State, scheduled for March 18, are expected to involve 22,282 ad hoc workers, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This was said by Alhaji Mohammmed Nura, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Bauchi.

According to him, the Commission had prepared the staff and dealt with issues to ensure that the exercise went off without a hitch.

Nura broke down the numbers and stated that there were 542 Supervising Polling Officers and 264 Returning Officers on staff (SPOs).

Others include 16,269 Assistant Polling Officers (APOs) and 5,423 Polling Officers (POs) who were recruited from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to him, the Commission also sent out 784 POs and APOs for further Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) deployment, and he added that this was a necessary step to adequately staff the polling places that were made out of the crowded ones.

According to him, the Commission received sensitive electoral documents that would be given to the state’s 20 local government units on Thursday.

In regards to transportation, Nura stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been struck by the Commission and the transport unions in order to ensure the efficient movement of people and materials during the approaching election.

Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and National Association of Road Transport Owners are the parties to the agreement (NARTO).

Nura claims that in order to guarantee the secure delivery of electoral materials and the orderly conduct of the election, the Commission is collaborating with appropriate parties, particularly the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

Nura asked voters to behave peacefully throughout the election process while reiterating her commitment to free, fair, and credible elections.

“We are prepared to go, and we urge the residents of the state to behave civilly and responsibly throughout the election.

He argued that everyone should show up in large numbers to exercise their rights in a calm setting. (NAN)
