29 sacks are stolen from a truck transporting grains to Zaria by youths.

19 individuals have been detained by agents of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State Command for allegedly robbing a rice truck in Kano.

The suspects attacked the truck along the Kano-Zaria Road on Sunday, Feb. 26, according to a statement released on Monday, Feb. 27, by the Command’s public relations officer, DSC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi.

According to him, the vehicle with the license plate UGG 532 XA was traveling to Zaria in Kaduna State while hauling hundreds of 50kg bags of rice from the Alhamsad Rice Factory in Sharada, Kano.

But, thugs stormed it and stole the rice bags.

After receipt of the report, NSCDC officials mobilized to the area, where they detained the suspects and found 29 bags of rice.

The truck’s driver and his helpers were saved.

After the investigation is complete, the suspects will be charged in court, according to Idris-Abdullahi.
