According to Ortom, the naira issue is harming Buhari’s reputation.

Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, requested on Wednesday that the Federal Government rethink the cashless policy immediately in order to ease the immense hardship that Nigerians are now going through.

Additionally, he counseled the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), to review the naira redesign strategy before it tarnished his reputation and derailed the remainder of his political career.

At a stakeholder meeting for the general election of 2023 that the Independent National Electoral Commission organized in Benue State, Ortom offered the recommendation.

This is the worst policy the President has implemented at a time when he is ready to leave office, according to Ortom. Some Nigerians are dying, and others are in pain.

“I’ve said it before, but allow me to say it again. The President’s advisors do not have his best interests in mind. If he doesn’t change this policy, he will continue to be an inconvenience to Nigerians.

“This is incorrect. If you have money in the bank but cannot use it because our people are suffering, visit a bank and observe the lines.

“His reputation as a respectable, honest guy will be destroyed by this policy. The man I stand up for, the woman, and the kids are sobbing and hurting because of this policy, and it will destroy him.

Ortom warned that “anarchy is imminent in this country” and urged well-intentioned Nigerians to take action.

The government and the police won’t be respected in the future, he predicted, and everyone would be left to fend for themselves. This will be too risky and too late, and there will be immeasurable losses.

Prof. Sam Egwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State, praised Ortom earlier for putting politics aside to attend the occasion.

He emphasized that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System was not a voting machine but was simply used for voter authentication and accreditation, saying that the Independent National Electoral Commission was sufficiently equipped logistically for the elections.
