INEC Officials have not yet arrived at polling unit in Imo State

Dailyupdates has learned that as of 3:27 PM, INES personnel had still not arrived at all five polling wards in the Egbema community, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

This is because voters in polling units 055, Umudike Primary School II, Egbema Ward A, and polling units 011, 012, 013, and 016 at the Egbema Town Hall, all in Ohaji/Egbema, are still waiting for the election officials to arrive.

This may be related to the recent increase in localized instability brought on by armed individuals kidnapping and murdering residents.

The delivery of voting materials and officials has reportedly been delayed in other regions of the nation due to logistical problems.

Bishop Johnson, a security expert and former captain in the US Army who is also an Egbema native and who participated in the election, told our correspondent in a video call that he and hundreds of other voters had been waiting for INEC staff since 8 am, noting that none had arrived until after voting had ended.

On Saturday, voting would start at 8.30 am and end at 2.30 pm, according to INEC.

In a chat with our correspondent, Johnson stated, “It is strange that no INEC official, BVAS, or other form of INEC presence has been observed in Egbema as of this moment (3.24 pm).

“It’s unjust. Many voters have lost their right to vote. We are discussing all five polling places.
