Atiku Abubakar, the contender for the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, has asked Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to give instructions to the collation officers for yesterday’s election to transfer the results to the INEC website immediately.

In a statement released on Sunday, Atiku claimed that this was required to stop some governors from undermining the outcomes of the local government collation.

For anyone to undermine the will of the people as freely expressed in their votes from yesterday would be a disservice to Nigerians and a violation of democracy, Atiku stated.

He urged Nigerians to maintain their composure while remaining attentive to prevent anti-democratic extremists who are disguising themselves as progressives from seizing power.

The PDP candidate claimed in the statement that early results from polling places and exit polls indicate that he is projected to become the first candidate to meet the necessary 25% of votes cast in at least 24 states in what is already shaping up to be a nail-biting race for the 2023 Nigerian presidential elections.

He said that the most recent predictions indicate that he would also outperform expectations in at least 10 states, where he is expected to receive more than 40% of the vote.

The PDP presidential candidate has, in the meantime, thanked Nigerians for their support thus far and promised to keep working hard to win their support.

Early results show that Atiku Abubakar is the kind of leader the Nigerian people want to lead them into a better future, and we are humbled and honored by this.
