30 goals, N120 million from Napoli to Osimhen
Victor Osimhen, a striker for Napoli, would receive an additional €260,000 (N120m) if he scores 30 goals for the Parthenopeans in the 2022–23 season, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 24-year-old recently utilized his contract’s goals bonus after he scored his 20th goal of the year, earning him €130,000. (N64m).
The Nigerian international made a goal in Napoli’s 2-0 Champions League round-of-16 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to bring his season total for 2022/23 to 20 and earn the €130,000 prize (N63.6m).
Osimhen, who has 21 goals and four assists in 25 appearances for the Naples-based team this season, has been crucial in helping Napoli keep their position atop Serie A.
The Napoli player’s contract has a condition that will pay him an additional €130,000 if he achieves 25 goals this season and another €130,000 if he gets 30 goals.
“He (Osimhen) already reached his first contractual bonus, which consisted of a €130,000 bonus upon scoring 20 goals. But, at this rate, Victor runs the risk of getting hit because the same number begins at the 25th and the 30th goals, according to La Gazzetta hello Sport.
“Objectives that clearly become within the grasp of a terrific striker who has scored 21 goals in only 25 games. There are at least 15 obstacles ahead, and they may grow to be as many as 17, with the hope of reaching 20, which would entail traveling to Istanbul to compete in the Champions League final.
Osimhen has at least 15 games left this season to score 30 goals, and he intends to do so given his recent goal-scoring trend and physical condition.
The Nigerian, who has scored nine goals overall, nine goals in his past eight Serie A appearances, 19 goals in his last 20 league games, and 21 goals altogether, might win the Partenopei their first Scudetto in more than three decades.
After Napoli paid LOSC Lille €75 million and added a few players to the deal, the total cost rose to over €80 million in 2021, making Osimhen the most expensive African player in history.
The second-youngest player to score in eight straight Serie A games, according to Opta, is the player who scored against Empoli.
Victor Osimhen, 24, became the second-youngest player (behind Roberto Muzzi) to score in eight straight Serie A games during the three points for a victory era (23 years, 165 for Cagliari in 1995). Unstoppable.”
After Empoli defender Ardian Ismajli placed the ball in his own net in the 17th minute, Osimhen was eager to add to his record of seven goals in his previous league games. He achieved just that in the 28th minute of the match to score Napoli’s second goal.
