In addition to Kai Havertz’s transfer from Chelsea last month and Jurrien Timber’s arrival from Ajax on Friday, Rice’s signing significantly strengthens Arteta’s team.

Following Arsenal’s second-place finish from the previous season, the 24-year-old will anticipate participating in Champions League football for the first time in his career.

“I am sorry to see Declan leave us, but I believe that everyone at West Ham United should be very proud of the part we have played in his journey,” co-chairman David Sullivan stated when announcing Rice’s departure.

“I want our supporters to know that we did not want to sell Declan,” I said.

“In order to secure his future, we made a number of upgraded, long-term contract offers because we wanted to build our team around him.

“Acting in the best interests of West Ham United, the club believed it would not be acceptable to stand in Declan’s way after he made it plain that he desired to move on and seek a new challenge.
