Putin and Ramaphosa Talk About the Black Sea Grain Initiative
On Saturday, President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke by phone with President Vladimir Putin about the ongoing discussions between Russia and the UN about the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Ramaphosa spoke with Putin after speaking on the phone with Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary General, earlier in the day.
According to Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, “the discussions also focused on the African Leaders Peace Mission and the need for a long-term, sustainable solution to the movement of grain from Russia and Ukraine to the international markets.”
On July 13, 2023, the president of Ukraine and the president of South Africa spoke on the phone.
Ramaphosa will discuss these issues in greater detail with both leaders and the UN Secretary General, according to a statement from Magwenya.
