Two days after being exonerated of rape, football player Benjamin Mendy appeared at a neighborhood kickabout in Manchester all smiles.

The 28-year-old former Man City player was meeting with neighborhood kids when he put on the uniform of his old team. The kids were “shocked” when he asked to join their five-a-side game.

After being exonerated by a jury on Friday of committing sex attacks on two women at his £4 million mansion, the former Premier League player showed up unexpectedly to the sports complex in Ardwick on Sunday.

He can be seen happy and joking in pictures posted on Twitter as he talks to some young local admirers.

Mendy cried and praised God after being exonerated of all charges at Chester Crown Court last week.

A jury found him not guilty after deliberating for three hours; he sobbed in the dock before expressing his happiness at the outcome.

On two counts of attempted rape and rape committed during lockdown-busting parties, Mendy had to stand trial again.

After his contract with agent City expired at the end of June and he played his final match for the Premier League champions in August 2021, he is now a free agent but without a club.

After a court battle in January, the French international defender was previously exonerated of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

His attorneys said that he will now “rebuild his life” and that a comeback to premier football is now likely.

Although visibly moved, the celebrity simply uttered the Arabic phrase “Alhamdulillah,” which means “Praise be to God,” outside of court.

‘Benjamin Mendy would like to thank the members of the jury for focusing on the evidence in this trial, rather than on the rumor and innuendo that have surrounded this case from the beginning,’ said Jenny Wiltshire, Head of Serious & General Crime at Hickman & Rose, on Friday.
