Bode Agusto, 68, past DG Budget Office head, passes away
Bode Agusto, an economist and former director-general of the Budget Office of the Federation, fell suddenly at the age of 68.
The first credit rating agency in Nigeria, Agusto & Co., was founded by him.
Olufemi Awoyemi, the Chairman, Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Proshare Nigeria, revealed the news of Agusto’s passing on Thursday via his X Twitter.
“@bodeagusto, the pioneer who taught us all how to respect facts and data in our engagements, was the founder of @agustoandco,” the user tweeted.
You were an amazing instructor and a wonderful person. You had a profound effect on our career choices, and we will always remember the lessons you taught us.
“May his soul rest in peace and may Almighty God grant his family the strength to bear this loss,” I said in prayer.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Lagos in 1974–1977. In 1981, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria inducted him as a Fellow of the Institute.
