Tems is nominated for an Academy Award for “Original Song” for Black Panther 2.
She was also nominated for a recent Golden Globe award. Temilade Openiyi, a singer from Nigeria better known by her stage name Tems, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
Tems and Ludwig Göransson wrote the song “Lift Me Up,” which was the lead single from the soundtrack album for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and other writers also contributed to the song’s composition.
The lead single from the soundtrack for the movie Top Gun: Maverick, “Hold My Hand,” which was written by Lady Gaga, is also up for this award in the same category.
As the sole Tollywood soundtrack, “Applause” by Diane Warren and “Naatu Naatu,” Golden Globe winner in the same category, are both included.
“Lift Me Up” reached its highest point at number one in South Africa, Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland, and the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also reached the top five in Australia and the UK.
It was awarded gold by the Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique and platinum by Music Canada (SNEP)

Additionally, the song was recognized with awards for Best Original Song in a Feature Film at the 13th Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Best Song at the 2023 African-American Film Critics Association.
Additionally, it was nominated for a Golden Globe recently. “Naatu Naatu” by RRR won the honor.
