A seven-story building in Lagos was completely destroyed by fire, affecting several shops.
The event took place on Friday in the state’s Lagos Island Local Government Area on Sanni Adewale Street.
The director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the event in a statement. She stated that firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations were despatched right away following a distress call and arrived at the location by 5:33 a.m.
She claimed that when the fire broke out at 5:17 a.m., locals scurried for safety, causing panic.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to put out the fire, which had already damaged millions of naira’s worth of goods.
There have been no reported casualties as of press time.

Thanks to the swift actions of the Lagos State Firefighters, the situation is now under control. Ventilation efforts are currently ongoing in ensuring the safety of all in the area. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by an electrical surge. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
