“Yes, I can attest to it. Aleksei Mozhin confirmed reports by the Russian news agencies TASS and RIA in an email to AFP, saying, “Ksenia will be the Russian Executive Director at the IMF as of November 1.”

As the member of the Fund’s Executive Board with the longest tenure, Mozhin has held the position since 1996.

Two months after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine, on April 20, 2022, Washington imposed the first set of sanctions against Yudaeva.

The State Department claims that she is on the US sanctions list because of her work at the Otkritie commercial bank and the Russian Central Bank.

Although the IMF has its headquarters in Washington, the federal capital of the United States, the US sanctions theoretically forbid the individuals in question from accessing US territory.

They also prohibit any American business or citizen from doing business or transacting financial business with the parties in question, and they freeze all assets owned by the parties in question, whether directly or indirectly, in the United States.
