After being kidnapped for eighteen days, Katsina Singer’s mother is freed.
Bandits have freed the mother of well-known Hausa political singer Dauda Adamu Kahutu, also referred to as Rarara.
After being held captive for eighteen days, the 75-year-old woman known as Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu was freed, a family source informed Channels Television on Wednesday.
The source claims that as soon as the singer was freed on Tuesday night, her mother was sent urgently to a hospital in Abuja to receive treatment.
When word of her release spread, there was wild celebration in Kahutu village, the singer’s homeland in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, even though the source said that her health had gotten worse after being diagnosed with high blood pressure as a result of the kidnapping.
Before releasing the victim, the bandits had wanted a ransom of one billion naira.
On June 28, 2024, she was kidnapped from her home in Kahutu Village. According to a source, the mother of the Rarara family was kidnapped at around one in the morning, following a raid on the village by a group of bandits with AK-47 weapons.
“The bandits occupied the settlement for a short while after storming it barefoot. The bandits ignored other persons they encountered at the victim’s home and proceeded directly to her residence upon their arrival in the area.
Following the kidnapping, Katsina State police announced that two suspects had been taken into custody to be questioned.
The Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, stated that “as soon as the report was received, the DPO Danja led a team of operatives to the scene with a view to arresting the culprits and unharmed rescue of the victim.”
“Two (2) suspects were taken into custody to be questioned during the investigation. As the inquiry moves on, more information will be shared as it becomes available, he continued.
