The 28-year-old hammer thrower won silver with a season-best throw of 75.48 meters. She was trailed by Camryn Rodgers of Canada, who won the gold with a throw of 76.79 meters. Jie Zhao of China placed third with a throw of 74.27 meters.

Her accomplishment occurred four years after she was disqualified from the Tokyo Olympics for administrative mistakes made by Nigerian officials, even though her drug test results were negative.

Echikunwoke, who was born in the US of Nigerian parents, first decided to represent Nigeria in the 2020 Olympics, but she later changed her allegiance to the US following the events in Tokyo.

She is currently regarded as one of America’s best hammer throwers, proving that her decision to change allegiance was worthwhile.
