Why the Teacher Was Sacked
According to Umar, the decision was reached during the commission’s 32nd plenary session held on September 11, after a thorough review of the allegations. He explained that Joshua’s actions violated Section 0327 of Bauchi State’s Public Service Rules, which specifically addresses misconduct related to sexual harassment.
The CSC chairman, Ibrahim Muhammad, emphasized that the dismissal followed due disciplinary procedures in line with established regulations. He also assured the public that the commission remains committed to fairness, transparency, and accountability in handling staff-related matters.
Misconduct in Civil Service: Bauchi Joins Abia
This development makes Bauchi the second state in Nigeria recently involved in the dismissal of civil servants over misconduct.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, September 9, the Abia State government, led by Governor Alex Otti, sacked six senior officers from the Ministry of Justice. The officers were accused of manipulating payroll systems to receive salaries above what they were entitled to.
The dismissed officials included:
Senior Accountant (SGL 10)
Senior Executive Officer, General Duties (SGL 09)
Principal Accountant (SGL 12)
Principal Executive Officer, Accounts (SGL 12)
Chief Executive Officer, Accounts (SGL 14)
Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Accounts (SGL 13)
According to Eno Eze, chairman of the Abia State Civil Service Commission, the officers knowingly benefited from irregular salary payments. However, one of the initially accused, Chioma Favour Madu, was cleared after evidence showed she had reported the overpayment and taken steps to rectify it.
Peter Obi Meets Bauchi Governor

Obi stated that he was in the state to inspect two teaching hospitals, but also used the opportunity to engage in broader discussions on Nigeria’s challenges with Governor Bala.
Following the meeting, Obi revealed that opposition leaders are strategizing to dislodge President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections.
