Association: All Nigerian students have been evacuated from Khartoum.
According to the National Association of Nigerian Students in Sudan, all remaining students in the war-torn nation of North Africa have been evacuated from Khartoum.
Amal Pantami, the association’s public relations officer, announced this in a statement on Sunday.
This is to tell the general public that, as of today, Sunday, April 30, 2023, all remaining Nigerian students have been evacuated from Khartoum, according to the announcement.
There were 26 buses in total, and each one held around 50 passengers.
“We keep requesting everyone’s prayers, and we sincerely hope that all of the students can get to Nigeria safely. We are eternally appreciative of your unwavering support and prayers.
Since fighting started on April 15, more than 500 people have died and tens of thousands have fled.
The Federal Government reported on Sunday that it had spent $1.2 million on bus fares to transport stranded Nigerians to the Egyptian border before being flown back to their country.
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s army is engaged in combat with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a heavily armed paramilitary group, which is led by his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
