Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Union Berlin are battling it out for first place in the Bundesliga.
After 21 games in the German top division, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and unlikely contenders Union Berlin are all tied on 43 points. Since the introduction of three points for each victory in 1995/96, this is the latest time there has been a three-way tie at the top.
This Sunday’s big game at the top of the table will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, and the race for the Bundesliga championship is as tight as it has been in more than a decade.
With a goal difference of 23 and 29 goals better than Dortmund and Union, respectively, the Bavarians, who have won the title for the last ten years in a row, are in the lead.
The defending champions of Germany, Bayern, will play host to the underdog Union Berlin on Sunday at the Allianz Arena. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, with the opening kickoff set for 4.30 p.m.
Dortmund, the last team to sever Bayern’s vice-like hold on the title under Jurgen Klopp in 2012, are also in action on Saturday at a struggling Hoffenheim; kick-off is at 2.30pm. Should they win and their title rivals draw on Sunday, Dortmund would move two points clear atop the table.

Bayern still doesn’t have a significant lead over the competition in the Bundesliga as March draws closer. What is happening at Germany’s most powerful club, then?
Just two of his last six league games have ended in victories for head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who most recently lost 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach last Saturday after Dayot Upamecano was dismissed after just eight minutes.
After the game, Nagelsmann displayed signs of pressure as he publicly lost his temper with official Tobias Welz, shouting his displeasure before entering the referee’s room in full view of the media.
Later, the 35-year-old expressed regret via Twitter, writing, “Emotions are part of sport. I had to vent after the game due to the red card.
“However, I must apologize to the Tobias Welz team for the words I chose. Unfortunately, I took it too far.

Bayern was in excellent form prior to the World Cup, but they have struggled to regain their form, dropping nine points (almost as many as they had in the previous 15 games) in the six league games since the tournament (11).
Since Dortmund won the Bundesliga in 2010/11, this is the German champions’ fewest wins at this point in the season. Nagelsmann does not want that to happen again. Before the end of the season in April 2011, Bayern’s head coach at the time, Louis van Gaal, was fired.
