Court prevents PDP from suspending Ortom and disqualifying him for election
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has obtained an interim injunction preventing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from suspending, exiling, or punishing him in any other way until the outcome of an interlocutory injunction brought before Makurdi-based High Court Justice A I. Ityomyiman.
While waiting for the outcome of the same interlocutory injunction filed before Justice A I. Ityomyiman, Ortom also obtained a temporary order barring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from taking any action against him in the upcoming election where he is running as the PDP candidate for the Benue North senatorial district.
The injunction is being issued at a time when accusations of anti-party activities have been leveled against him and other G5 governors for reportedly publicly supporting a rival presidential candidate to the PDP’s preferred nominee, Atiku Abubakar.
