Diamond of the ‘Diamond and Silk’ sisters, a vlogger, died at the age of 51.
Donald Trump, the former US president, is mourning the death of entertainer Diamond Lynnette Hardaway, best known as one half of the duo Diamond and Silk, who died on Monday night, January 9 at the age of 51.
The “unexpected” death of Diamond, one of Trump’s most ardent supporters, was labeled “really bad news for Republicans” by the former US president.
“Really bad news for Republicans, and frankly, all Americans,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday.
The former president referred to Hardaway as “Magnificent Diamond,” and said her sister Silk Herneitha Rochelle Hardaway was “with her all the way, and at her passing.”
“There has never been a better team anywhere or at any time,” Trump continued.
“Our lovely Diamond, of Diamond and Silk, has died at her home in North Carolina, the state she adored.”
Diamond and Silk rose to prominence during Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign after shockingly switching from lifelong Democrats to hardline Republicans after Trump’s presidential bid was announced a year before.
Throughout Trump’s presidency, the vloggers became social media stars and frequent Fox News guests, including appearances in the Oval Office with Trump.
“There has never been a better TEAM anywhere or at any time!” Diamond’s death was completely unexpected; most likely, her large and precious HEART simply gave out. “Rest in Peace, our Magnificent Diamond; you will be greatly missed,” Trump said.
Back in November, the duo’s official Twitter account pleaded with fans to pray for Hardaway’s health.
“Anyone who believes in the power of prayer, please pray for Diamond,” the tweet said, with no explanation for the sudden request.
The sisters were fired from their Fox News jobs in 2020 for spreading conspiracy theories about COVID-19. They also claimed on-air that the virus’s death toll was being manipulated in order to harm Trump’s image.
