Entrepreneurs need to expand their knowledge of how Nigeria can benefit from the global gas market, according to Dr. David Ige, a former executive director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which was in operation at the time. This knowledge is needed at all levels of the gas ecosystem.

He made this statement in the gas resource manual “Understanding Natural Gas – a Nigerian Perspective,” which he and Dapo Akinosun co-authored. The manual, which traces Nigeria’s energy transition journey from the first coal plant in 1896 to today’s vast energy sector dominated by petroleum and gas, is both a historical guide and an educational blueprint.

Ige, a seasoned professional with over 23 years of experience, is the founder and CEO of Gas Invest Limited. From 2011 to 2015, he was the Group Executive Director for Gas and Power at NNPC.

Akinosun founded SimmonsCooper Partners, a prestigious business law firm, and is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). According to Ige, the work is the result of their technical expertise and extensive experience in the local and international gas sector.
