From Saturday, February 25, to Monday, February 27, 2023, all train service throughout the nation would be halted, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

This is as a result of the Saturday elections for the National Assembly and the Presidency. Mahmood Yakub, the NRC’s spokesperson, who made the announcement, stated in a statement:

The Board and management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) hereby inform the general public, in particular our valued passengers, of the temporary suspension of train services from Saturday, February 25, to Monday, February 27, 2023, in order to allow Nigerians to fulfill their civic obligations.

These rail services include the Iddo Lagos-Ijoko interstate Mass Transit passenger trains, the Warri-Itakpe Train Service, the Lagos-Ibadan Train Service, and the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service. Nonetheless, the management promises that on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, regular train services will resume.
