Hails Tinubu’s Eniola Bolaji for Her Paralympic Success
Nigerian para-badminton player Eniola Bolaji has received praise from President Bola Tinubu for her outstanding performance in the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
The 18-year-old Bolaji created history by being the first athlete from Africa to win a medal in badminton at the Paralympic Games when she took home the bronze in the women’s Para-badminton SL3 division.
She was praised by Tinubu in a statement released on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, as a shining example of the ingenuity, skill, and determination of Nigeria’s young people.
The statement said, “President Bola Tinubu congratulates Ms. Eniola Mariam Bolaji on becoming the first African athlete to achieve such a feat in the sport at the Games by winning a medal in badminton at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.”
Bolaji’s bravery and tenacity, which allowed her to win Nigeria’s first medal at the current Games, were also acknowledged by him.
Eniola, who is eighteen years old, won bronze in the women’s SL3 Para-badminton competition on Monday at the Paralympics in Paris. President Tinubu praises Ms. Bolaji for her bravery and tenacity in overcoming all obstacles to win Nigeria’s first medal in the history of the Games.
“The President hails the young athlete as a shining example of the resourcefulness, talent, and tenacity of Nigeria’s youth and thanks her for making the country proud.”
The statement said, “President Tinubu enjoins Ms. Bolaji not to relent but to keep striving for success.”
