Helicopter strikes occupied hotel roof, igniting a tremendous flame
A guy lost his life when a helicopter struck a hotel’s roof in Cairns and caught fire, forcing up to 400 guests to be evacuated.
A twin-engine helicopter was reported to have crashed into an Australian roof, prompting Hilton to summon emergency personnel to the Double Tree Hotel at approximately 1:50 a.m. local time.
According to authorities, forensic investigators are attempting to formally identify the pilot, who was the only person onboard the helicopter, after he was pronounced deceased at the site.
According to reports, the helicopter’s owner business declared the flight to be “unauthorized.”
The firm sent a statement to the ABC stating, “Nautilus Aviation is working closely with Queensland Police, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau and other authorities as they investigate the unauthorized use of one of our helicopters in the early hours of this morning.”
“We will not be making any further comments at this time, as we fully support the ongoing investigation.”
As previously reported by the Courier-Mail, no flight plan had been made.
Veronica Knight, a bystander, stated that the helicopter was traveling at an extremely high speed prior to it colliding with the hotel.
Following the incident, a fire broke out on the hotel’s roof, forcing the evacuation of up to 400 people. But there were no injuries on the ground for anyone.
