Akinwunmi Braithwaite, a candidate for the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Lagos State, declared before the March 11, 2023, governorship election that, if elected, he would create jobs and social possibilities.

On Monday, he remarked on Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict show, “The third area of vital importance is social services; I will be very big on social security because, through no fault of their own, people can’t get employment, they can’t eat livelihood.”

As there is a link between unemployment and criminality, the NRM governor candidate stated he will concentrate on employment.

He declared, “I am a full employment type of person. If you don’t address employment, a variety of issues are tied to unemployment, including crime; a high unemployment rate is associated with a higher rate of crime.

“I’ll bring a lot of employment to areas that need a lot of labor; we’ll take the conventional labor-intensive industries like agriculture and apply them across the entire value chain. We will undoubtedly create a large number of employment in that business because it requires a lot of labor.

Anywhere you go in the world, you’ll discover that the tourism and hospitality industries are incredibly labor-intensive and employ a large number of people.
