In Jigawa, Hisbah closes alcohol bars and forbids prostitution during Ramadan.

All bars and places where people can get prostituted must immediately close during Ramadan, according to an edict from the Jigawa State Hisbah Corps.

Ibrahim Dahiru, the state’s Hisbah commandant, said this in an interview on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, adding that the action is a part of the corps’ attempts to reduce societal vices during Ramadan.

According to Dahiru, the Hisbah corps has educated those who peddle alcohol and perform commercial sex.

“We have visited these areas all over the state and warned the offenders to stop operating their illegal businesses during this holy month of Ramadan or leave the state,” the statement reads.

The Hisbah commandant announced that agents would go on a widespread search to detain anyone who disobeyed the order.
