Four police officers were shot by unidentified assailants in Enugu State’s Nkanu Local Government Area.

On Sunday evening, August 18, 2024, at the well-known Four Corner Junction in Ozalla, there was an attack.

The attackers reportedly opened fire on the policemen while they were performing a stop-and-search at a checkpoint.

A police patrol car is burning next to the lifeless body of an officer on the highway, as shown in a video that has gone viral on social media.

Dr. Frank Nweke Jr., a former minister of information, has denounced the attack in the meantime.

“Earlier today, police officers on duty at the Four Corner Junction on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway were attacked by a group of alleged unknown gunmen, terrifying the Ozalla community in Nkanu West LGA, Enugu. Additionally, a fire destroyed their patrol vehicle,” he said in a statement on X.

My sympathies are with the bereaved families as well as the men and officers of the Enugu Police Command. Nobody should have to die in such a horrible way while only carrying out their duties to keep the public order and protect the citizens.
