INEC: Mobile phones and photography gadgets are not permitted in voting booths.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has advised voters that using mobile phones or other photographic device inside the voting booth to photograph the party for which they voted will be prohibited.

Barrister Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairperson of INEC Voter Education and Publicity Committee, announced this during a Channels Television news program.

He stated that anyone caught will be imprisoned if charged.

“No one will be allowed to bring their phone to the voting booth,” he says. That is illegal.

“Officials from the ICPC, the EFCC, and security agencies would be on hand to supervise and guarantee that the law is not broken in that regard.”
