The military is evaluating the security situation in Alawa, according to Acting Governor Yakubu Garba, clearing the way for the town’s military post to reopen.

After receiving food donations for the victims of the recent bandit attack in Alawa from Senator Mohammed Sani, who represents the Niger East senatorial constituency, the Acting Governor made this announcement at Government House, Minna.

The goal of the action is to give the region, which has seen a rise in bandit attacks recently, more security protection.

Yakubu Garba added that after communal conflicts between farmers and headers that resulted in multiple fatalities, peace has again returned to the Barkuta community in the Bosso Local Government Area of the State.

Babasule Bisala headed a delegation that delivered the donations to the Acting Governor at the government house. They excused themselves from giving the food supplies to the afflicted people directly by citing insecurity.

Thirteen farmers who had gone from an IDP camp to work on their farmland were killed in the most recent attack.

Speaking in Hausa, Ibrahim Salihu, the Hakimi of Alawa, stated that the victims had been recognized and that the intervention had reached both the victims and the relatives of those slain in the incident.

It is anticipated that the military base’s reopening will provide much-needed respite to the impacted towns and guarantee a safer atmosphere for locals and farmers.
