Joao Felix’s Chelsea debut did not go as planned on Thursday evening, as the forward was sent off in the second half of Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Fulham.

Graham Potter gave the 23-year-old a start for the trip to Craven Cottage despite the fact that he only signed a loan deal from Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Throughout the first half, Felix displayed numerous touches of class and managed to take six shots at Bernd Leno.

However, shortly after Denis Zakaria was forced off with an injury, Felix’s debut was cut short when referee David Coote gave him a straight red for a dangerous tackle on Kenny Tete. Carlos Vinicius headed his first Fulham goal in the 73rd minute as Fulham went on to win the game.

Felix, who has only played one game for Chelsea, will now miss the next three Premier League games, according to Premier League rules. Felix’s challenge was classified as a dangerous tackle, and he will be suspended for three games.
A second yellow card, like a so-called professional foul, results in a one-match ban, according to the rules. A player will typically face a two-match suspension for dissent and a three-match suspension for violent conduct. Of course, these are only guidelines, and each incident will be evaluated on its own merits.
Felix is now set to miss the next three league games, meaning he will be unable to face Crystal Palace, Liverpool, or Fulham.
