Kalu is the ideal candidate for Senate President, says Esin
All Progressives Congress (APC) chief Larry Esin has enlisted the help of lawmakers and APC supporters to help Orji Uzor Kalu succeed in his ambition for the Senate presidency.
Esin, a former special assistant to former Cross Rivers State governor Donald Duke, claimed that Nigeria was at a turning point and needed leaders like Kalu to help it overcome its socioeconomic problems.
“The unity of this nation has never been more threatened in our post-war history; consequently, there is a need to bring in men and women of goodwill, character, and ability to heal the nation’s wounds, advocate for peace, and put the nation back on the path to nationhood and sustainable development.
“Kalu, as Senate President, will re-ignite the fundamental goal of governance, which is to fulfill the promise of justice, equity, and equal protection under the law made by this great nation to its people. In addition to assuring our South Eastern brothers of their effective engagement in Nigerian affairs, Kalu as Senate President will also demand their contributions and duty to the Nigeria project, according to Esin.
Kalu, the Senate’s chief whip, recently said that the 10th Senate would be led by him.
The former governor of Abia State asked the APC to zone the seat to the South East while making the claim in response to questioning from reporters at the National Assembly in Abuja.
He claimed to be the highest ranked senator from the area and that, as chief whip, he merits the position.
Since I am an entrepreneur and an economic person, he said, “I would like the party to zone it to my zone, to my village in Igbere because president-elect Bola Tinubu needs people of high character to turn around the economy and work for the masses, make laws that will enable him to turn around the economy.”
A political pressure group called The Equality Movement has also endorsed his campaign, claiming that the Senate Chief Whip is qualified to serve as the upper legislative chamber’s leader.
Mohammed Yusuf Ajiji, the movement’s leader, hailed Kalu as a politician with the ability to rally the 10th Senate behind a shared goal for the benefit of the nation.
