Mbappe gives up “tens of millions” to facilitate his departure from PSG.

In an attempt to ease the possibility of leaving Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappe, the striker for France, has turned down offers for “several tens of millions” of euros, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told AFP on Thursday.

According to the source, Mbappe sacrificed bonuses of between 60 and 70 million euros ($65.6 million and $76.6 million) in a deal he signed with the team last summer. This was done to protect the club financially in the event that he left, as his contract expires in June.

Since Monday, when the transfer market opened, Mbappe has been free to sign wherever he wants.

Le Parisien, a daily newspaper in France, reports that he was due to earn an 80 million euro “loyalty” bonus in September, along with other bonuses totaling 100 million euros.

The person close to the negotiations, however, refuted these estimates.

Following PSG’s Champions Trophy triumph on Wednesday, Mbappe stated, “The most important thing is that, with the agreement I reached with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’s peace of mind for the challenges to come.”

According to the agreement, PSG will be protected should Mbappe depart without a transfer fee. Mbappe has stated that he has not yet decided on his future.

Le Parisien claims that Mbappe’s 2022 deal guaranteed him a 72 million euro annual salary, a 150 million euro signing bonus, and a loyalty bonus that increased from 70 million euros in the first year to 90 million euros in the third.

Without extending his contract past June, Mbappe could have collected almost 200 million euros by remaining in Paris.

If he were to sign with any team in the summer, he would probably receive a sizable signing-on fee in lieu of a transfer fee.

Mbappe’s team did not respond right away when AFP reached out to them, and PSG has refrained from commenting.
