NDLEA Dismantles Cocaine Syndicates and Takes Consignments Bound for the US and UK

In a nationwide intelligence-led investigation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized multibillion-naira worth of cocaine that was hidden in heavy-duty vehicle pivot shafts and Ghanaian cloth, Kente.

2.32 kilograms of cocaine hidden in Ghanaian traditional kente materials headed for the United Kingdom were intercepted at a courier company in Lagos on Monday, August 5, 2024, according to a statement signed by the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi. Meanwhile, 10.494 kg of the same class A drug buried in heavy duty pivot shafts heading for the United States were recovered at the same logistics company after the NDLEA sniffer dogs fished out the automobile spare parts containing the illicit drug.

The statement also stated that on Friday, August 9, 2024, two hundred and ninety-seven pills of tramadol 225 mg heading to Canada and five additional consignments containing five hundred grams of cocaine hidden in clothing materials, as well as various amounts of injections of pentazocine, promethazine, and cocodamol, all headed to the UK, were intercepted at the courier company in Lagos.

On August 8, 2024, NDLEA agents in Adamawa State apprehended 49-year-old Joseph Peter in his Toyota Camry car bearing the license plate Lagos KSF 381 HM. He claimed to be transporting 425 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing 291.200 kg, from Edo state to Yola, Adamawa State. With the assistance of men of operation Farauta Sector 3, Mayo Belwa also made this arrest.
