Niger Govt. Gives Flood Victims in Maiduguri ₦250 Million
The government of Niger State has given ₦250 million to Maiduguri, Borno State, flood victims.
A team from the State led by Governor Umaru Bago traveled to Maiduguri to express sympathy to the government and people of Borno State in relation to the flood disaster that impacted more than two million people.
He called for support from all well-meaning Nigerians, describing the situation as alarming and tragic.
The governor urged Prof. Babagana Zulum, his counterpart from Borno State, and the people of the state to persevere and maintain their confidence in Allah, who is error-free.
Additionally, he asked the people of Borno State to back their governor in his attempts to bring their lives and means of subsistence back to normal.
In the event that medical aid is required, the governor pledged to promptly dispatch health workers.
In response, Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude for the Niger State government’s gift and promised that the funds would be wisely allocated to assist the flood victims.
He praised Governor Umaru Bago’s developmental achievements and said that he has strengthened the already strong bond between the two States.
The Niger State government delegation included a few members of the State Executive Council, Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government, Special Advisers, Chairmen of Local Governments, and the Emirs of Borgu and Kagara.
Prayers were said specifically for the dead’s souls to rest in peace, for the wounded to heal, and for Allah to restore the lost goods and livelihoods while also preventing a repeat of the incident.
The team from Niger State also visited Shehu of Borno’s palace to offer condolences and request royal blessings.
