According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Bola Tinubu did not address the demands of the demonstrators in his speech in support of the #EndBadGovernance movement.

It said that Sunday’s speech demonstrated insensitivity to Nigerians’ predicament.

The party’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, stated in a statement on Sunday that “the PDP asserts that the speech by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the ongoing protests in the country clearly confirms the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s insensitivity towards Nigerians and the very precarious situation in the country.”

Days after the demonstrators took to the streets in multiple locations throughout the nation—a move the PDP claims was prompted by the president—Tinubu delivered his speech.

The party said, “Our Party is appalled that the speech failed to offer any concrete measure to address the excruciating hardship in the country, even though it took President Tinubu the PDP’s prodding to speak to the nation.”

Protests: @officialABAT ’s Speech Diversionary, Fails to Address Issues

The All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s insensitivity to Nigerians and the extremely perilous situation lack the nation, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig, is amply demonstrated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s address about the ongoing protests in the nation.

Our Party is horrified that, despite President Tinubu’s need to speak to the public at the PDP’s insistence, the speech fell short of providing any specific solutions to the terrible suffering that the people of the country are experiencing.

The citizens’ demands for rapid action to stop the Naira’s decline, lower the price of petroleum products, and provide food to malnourished Nigerians were not met by Mr. President in his speech.

It is also shocking that, despite calling for good governance, protection, security, and welfare—the main goals of government—the speech did not call for an investigation into the brutal killing of defenseless Nigerians by some dishonest agents of the APC-controlled security services.

The speech instead focused on the APC’s counterproductive behavior of ignoring the emotions and suffering of the populace by emphasizing self-praise, claims of fictitious accomplishments, and hollow projections in the face of the party’s evident and evident failure in every area of governance.

This merely serves to confirm the public’s fear that the APC administration is heartless and indifferent to the misery and suffering of millions of Nigerians, especially the young people whose hopes, goals, and aspirations are being crushed by the party.

It is obvious that the APC government is overburdened and at a loss for solutions given the plethora of issues brought about by its anti-people policies, which are making living in the nation intolerably difficult.

In light of the fact that Nigerians currently require action rather than just talk, the APC must own up to its shortcomings and show itself open to considering different opinions and recommendations.

Our Party demands that President Tinubu accept the reality that the country is in terrible shape while he is in office. He should respond to the people’s requests, especially those to lower the price of petroleum goods, maintain the value of the Naira, and move quickly to provide food for Nigerians.

President Tinubu ought to reduce the size of the government, spend less on luxuries, and free up additional funds for prompt action to improve Nigerians’ quality of life.
