“A distress call was received at the Danmusa Divisional Police Headquarters today, August 14th, 2024, at approximately 0430hrs. The caller stated that some suspected armed bandits attacked Yan Shantuma village, Danmusa LGA, where they abducted three people, stole twenty-three goats, and looted the villagers of food and some valuables,” the statement read.

“As soon as the report was received, DPO Danmusa dispatched police officers to the scene, along with Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) members. While attempting to flee with the victims, the team ambushed the attackers near Tashar Ice Village. A gunfight broke out, leading to the attackers’ departure from the scene with gunshot wounds, while all of the abducted victims were retrieved unharmed and the stolen items were found.

He claims that during an earlier operation, the police at Safana Divisional Police Headquarters received information on an abandoned car at the side of the road, with its occupants perhaps abducted.

The DPO sent out a search and rescue squad right away, and they thoroughly searched the nearby bushes. After a hard gunfight with the alleged kidnappers, the four occupants of the abandoned vehicle were safely rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention, he stated. As the inquiry continues, more efforts are being made to apprehend the fugitives.
