Second Niger Bridge: South-East “Eternally Grateful” to Buhari, according to Soludo

On Friday, Governor Chukwuma Soludo congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for completing the Second Niger Bridge, saying the South-East region is appreciative of the initiative.

After many years of waiting, the Second Niger Bridge was finally opened earlier this week. The South-East and the South-South are connected by this important route.

Days after the project’s commissioning, Soludo, the governor of Anambra State (which is connected to Delta State as well), praised the Buhari administration for maintaining its commitment to complete the President-named bridge.

“I had to go out of my way to personally attend the project’s commissioning. It is a significant game-changer,” he stated on Politics Today on Channels Television.

The project is crucial, and President Buhari has our eternal gratitude for completing it, Soludo continued.

He claims that one of the five main projects that the South-East has been clamoring for in the area is the Second Niger Bridge.

He thinks the Second Niger Bridge’s completion is a positive start even though there are still other things that need to be done.

But the former CBN governor added, “We are now eternally grateful that at least one of five [has been done].

He reiterated that “for us, it is a game-changer and would decongest traffic, and create a twin city between Asaba and Onitsha,” saying “It is a promise made and a promise kept.”

Soludo bemoaned the sit-at-home culture in the area, which he claimed costs the South-East, during the broadcast.

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu is the target of a sit-at-home protest that takes place in numerous states in the area.

However, the governor of Anambra State claims that it does so at a “cost” to the South-East.

“We suffer tremendous economic losses. The price is really high, he added.
