As a fire broke out at the Falamo Police Barracks in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos, the 15-year-old son of a senior officer working for the Lagos State Police Command has been declared dead.

According to reports, the fire destroyed Room 24, Block 1, which belonged to Assistant Superintendent of Police Godspower David and was located on Victoria Island’s Bar Beach Division.

In confirming the event, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), recalled that the Divisional Police Officer in Ikoyi was notified while a team of emergency responders was dispatched to the location and successfully extinguished the fire.

The corpse of Emmanuel Godspower David, the officer’s son who was killed in the flames, was discovered, Hundeyin continued.

The PPRO reported that while an inquiry was underway, the teenager’s body had been transported to a public mortuary for an autopsy.
