The Weeknd breaks music industry history by becoming the first artist on Spotify to reach 100 million monthly listeners.

Days after releasing a remix of his song “Die for You” with Ariana Grande, Canadian musician The Weeknd made history by becoming the first artist to reach 100 million monthly Spotify listens.

According to Billboard, the new milestone puts him far ahead of Miley Cyrus, who has 82.5 million listeners, Taylor Swift, with 80.3 million, and rapper Drake, with 68.6 million. The revelation was confirmed by the digital music service on Monday.

This is the fourth time he’s worked with Grande on a song, and their most recent collaboration with her was an instant hit with the audience.

The most recent achievement occurs a few days after his broadcast concert, Live at SoFi Stadium, which captured one of his sold-out performances in Los Angeles, was released.

The Canadian vocalist has 20 Billboard Music Awards, four Grammy Awards, and nominations for an Oscar and an Emmy.

The popular song Blinding Lights by the Toronto-based artist made history in 2021 when it became the first track to spend a whole year in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

The joyful song by the performer, whose full name is Abel Tesfaye, previously broke a record by spending 43 weeks in the Top 5.
