Tinubu denounces the Zamfara and Kano attacks

The president-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu, declared on Monday in Abuja that terrorism, banditry, and senseless killings have no place in Nigeria.

He was responding to weekend attacks by bandits and assailants in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara and in Maigari Town in the Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State.

In Zamfara, the bandits reportedly killed a Divisional Police Officer, a police Inspector, and a vigilante. Tinubu recounted this.

The president-elect remarked, “In the Kano attack, gunmen broke into the home of a village chief and shot him dead.

After a period of comparatively calm in Zamfara, the attack on Maru town, he continued, was a reminder that more needed to be done to thoroughly eradicate bandits and terrorists.

“As a nation, we must band together to finish off these dealers in death and horror once and for all. Such senseless crimes and atrocities shouldn’t be tolerated in our nation, he said.

He expressed his condolences for the fatalities to the families of the affected security officers, Mr. Usman Baba, the Zamfara government, and the Inspector-General of Police.

In addition, Tinubu demanded a probe into the slaying of Mr. Munir Maigari, the chairman of the Rimin Gado Local Government, the district head of Maigari in Kano State.

He expressed his sorrow over the brutal killing of the community leader with the local government chairman, the administration of Kano State, and the families of the deceased.

The late Gen. Sani Abacha’s family and prominent cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s widow both received condolence messages from the president-elect following the passing of their son Abdullahi.

No of the circumstances or age, saying goodbye to a loved one is emotional.
