Tinubu Names Two Directors for the Industry Bank

Rotimi Akinde and Ifeoma Uz’Okpala have been named by President Bola Tinubu to the positions of Executive Director of the Bank of Industry (BOI), Corporate Finance & Risk Management, and Executive Director of the Large Enterprises Directorate, respectively.

Theodora Amechi, a bank spokesperson, stated in a statement on Tuesday that the positions are effective right away.

Akinde is a financial expert with more than 20 years of experience in corporate banking and investments. She has a strong background in corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and equity, debt, and hybrid capital raising.

Prior to joining the Bank of Industry, he worked on the UKNIAF program as an Associate Partner, Project & Corporate Finance at Infrastructure Delivery International (IDI), where he also pushed structured financing solutions for subnationals and green finance.

Additionally, he had previously served as the Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility’s (NIAF) Corporate Finance Advisor, where he oversaw financing projects, funding arrangements, and modeling for infrastructure.

Formerly Vice President of Corporate Finance & Advisory at UBA Global Markets (now United Capital), he worked in corporate banking as the Group Head & Assistant General Manager of multinationals at UBA Plc.

He worked for Leadbank Plc as an Assistant Manager in the Investment and Corporate Banking Groups.

Before being appointed, Uz’Okpala was the bank’s chief risk officer. She joined BOI in September 2014 as the group head of large enterprises credit.

In her capacity as the bank’s chief risk officer, she was instrumental in overseeing and reducing operational risks and in providing support for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) concerns.

She supplied the strategy for drawing in impact investments and gave priceless ESG help throughout transactions.

Uz’Okpala has worked in the financial industry for more than 30 years, making him an experienced credit and risk management professional.

She started her career at the International Merchant Bank and worked her way up to important positions at First Bank, MBC International, Stanbic Bank, and UBA. Her broad range of experience include Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Foreign Operations, Credit Evaluation and Origination, and Internal Audit.
