Tinubu wants the national assembly to approve a minimum wage bill of N70,000.
In letters addressed to the leadership of the national legislature, President Bola Tinubu requested that the measure pertaining to the minimum wage be passed into law.
Tuesday, July 23, during plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas read the letters.
The goal of the bill is to make the N70,000 minimum salary that organized labor and the federal government recently agreed upon lawful.
Tinubu requested last week that the national parliament add N6.2 trillion to the 2024 appropriations Act.
According to the president, N3.2 trillion will go toward infrastructure projects and N3 trillion will go for ongoing expenses.
