Tinubu’s return is confirmed by Faleke, who mobilizes the welcome

As exclusively reported by THISDAY yesterday, Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria, will arrive in Nigeria today following a one-month rest in France in preparation for his inauguration on May 29, 2023, according to Hon. James Faleke, Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
To rest and prepare for his inauguration on May 29, Tinubu left the country on Tuesday, March 21 for France.

Faleke, however, briefed PCC members and members of the ruling party on Tinubu’s arrival today yesterday.

It’s official, Faleke said. My dear members of this special family, brothers and sisters. I want to let everyone know and ask that they join in welcoming our People’s President and First Lady-elect tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Presidential wing of the International Airport in Abuja and Nasarawa. 2 PM is the departure time.The campaign office is the departure location.

Time for accreditation: 12 p.m. Buses will be available.
For security reasons, only authorized individuals will be permitted at the airport.

After a very demanding campaign and election season, Tinubu traveled to France to rest and plan his transition program, according to a statement from his media office in March.

The statement also stated that the president-elect would use the time to plan his transition strategy while away.
“He has told every senior aide and member of the campaign staff to go take a quick break, too. He is anticipated to return to the nation soon. We urge the media to stop reporting rumors and unverified claims, and to constantly ask our office for clarifications,” his media office reportedly stated.

The zoning of National Assembly leadership, which has polarized the two chambers of the parliament along regional and religious lines, is one of the pressing issues that Tinubu will face when he returns to the country.

The North-west is looking for compensation in the new administration for giving Tinubu the most votes, as the South-west and North-east already hold the positions of president and vice president-elect, respectively.
However, given that both the president-elect and the vice president-elect are Muslims, the South-east and the South-south would find it unacceptable if a Senate President from the North-West were to take office.

Also up for debate is who will serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
