Two Catholic priests are abducted in Delta by gunmen.
Reverend Father Chochos Kunav and Reverend Father Raphael Ogigba, two Catholic priests, were taken hostage by gunmen in the Agbara-Otor neighborhood of the Ughelli North Local Government in Delta State.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Delta State police command claimed to be hunting down the criminals responsible for the priests’ kidnapping.
The clergy were reportedly kidnapped on Saturday night while traveling to Ughelli on the Agbara-Otor road.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, provided additional information about the event, stating that the command has been actively managing the kidnapping to secure their unharmed release.
Very Reverend Father Okereke Kizito, in a brief statement, mentions that one of the hostages, Father Chochos, works in Ibadan and was visiting a colleague from the Catholic diocese of Warri.
Later, the two clergymen visited a different priest nearby Agbara-Otor, and while returning, they were kidnapped.
As of the time this report was submitted, it was still unclear if the kidnappers had contacted the victim or made any demands.
