UNICEF To Invest More Than ₦480 Million In Zamafara’s Women’s And Children’s Health
UNICEF has pledged to provide approximately ₦480 million to enable women and children in Zamfara State to get free healthcare services.
This was revealed by Michael Juma, the UNICEF Chief of the Sokoto Field Office, during a three-day formal beginning of UNICEF’s interaction with officials from the Zamfara State Government regarding the state’s Ten-Year Strategic Plan.
Stakeholders felt the fund would assist the Dauda Lawal-led administration in achieving achievements in its efforts to foster sustainable development in the State, in the areas of social, economic, and environmental domains, during the three-day discussion on the state’s ten-year strategic plan.
Juma stated during his presentation that the money will allow mothers and children in Zamfara State to receive free medical care.
He went on to say that it is prepared to create a framework for accountability, monitoring, and evaluation in order to support the strategic plan’s key officers in tracking their success. He also promised to support the state government in improving the staff’s capacity to submit reports on time and within budget.
Additionally, UNICEF promised to support Governor Dauda Lawal in understanding the allocation of resources, the outcomes attained, and the strategies to improve the lives of the populace.
During his speech, Governor Lawal thanked UNICEF for helping the state and explained that the ten-year strategic plan will serve as a guide for his administration as it tackles issues and accomplishes development objectives.
UNICEF continued by saying that it is striving to guarantee that all state children have access to inclusive, high-quality education, with a focus on getting out-of-school children enrolled in school so they may receive the necessary education to help them reach their full potential in the future.
